Preparing for Your Discovery Zoom Call

You took the first step. You scheduled your Discovery Zoom Call. What should you expect? Here are answers to some commonly asked questions:

WHAT IS THE COST OF A DISCOVERY ZOOM CALL?

There is no cost for the Discovery Zoom Call process or obligation to proceed after your Discovery Zoom Call. The purpose is to address common general questions regarding the CurePlan process:

  • Insurance coverage probability

  • Testing locations and options: We use the expansive network of Quest Diagnsotics for labs and Vasolabs for carotid ultrasound imaging

  • Working with your other providers: If any of your other providers have questions or concerns, we offer 217-290-0230 as a number they can call or text to work out any conflicts in recommendations.

  • CureCoach.App registration

Discussion of current symptoms or problems and other details about your care is not the purpose of your Discovery Zoom Call. That requires a Consultation, which can begin during this encounter or at a subsequent encounter.

We ask you to complete registration and consent forms to enable us to answer questions about coverage and logistical issues more easily and efficiently.

HOW LONG DOES A DISCOVERY ZOOM CALL TAKE?

A Discovery Zoom Call typically lasts up to 30 minutes. Use this link to enter the Zoom waiting room. If time allows and you want to proceed, we may start the consultation process or schedule time for a later date. Medical consultations are billed to your insurance unless you prefer otherwise. Check with your plan to clarify whether Craig Backs MD of 2131 W. White Oaks Dr. Suite A, Springfield, IL is in your network.

PREPARING FOR YOUR DISCOVERY ZOOM CALL OR CONSULTATION

  • We recommend you use your computer instead of a tablet or smartphone due to the amount of information shared on screen function limits on mobile platforms. Log in to Zoom at least 5 minutes early using this link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/3474043336

  • . Unmute your microphone and start your video. Dr. Backs will admit you at the time of your appointment. If you have never used Zoom, this tutorial will help you have a better experience.

  • Become familiar with the process to scan reports from other sources you might wish to share to create PDF’s to access on your computer. Learn how to attach these documents to email and CureCoach.App. You can find resources on YouTube or ask someone to help you.

  • During the meeting, you may be asked to share your screen to help you register, connect or navigate on CureCoach.App. Click here to learn more about screen sharing.

  • Arrange your environment as you would a professional in-office visit. Ensure you are in a private quiet space with no interruptions. Spouses/partners/surrogates are welcome at your discretion. You may not be aware of background noise but the microphone transmits clinking dishes, pets, playing children, and other distractions inaudible to you. Outdoor locations with associated wind or other noise, driving, or being otherwise preoccupied are unacceptable and will lead to your appointment being rescheduled. If the internet connection is bad, we may use the phone for audio, but need to mute your computer microphone and speakers to avoid feedback.

  • In case we transition into a consultation to discuss your specific symptoms, history or treatment, have your medication list and supplement bottles handy (including OTC medications). Be prepared to provide blood pressure readings from other encounters or home readings, as well as height and recent weight measurements.

  • Assuming it matters to you, check with your insurance plan to determine if my charges and charges for testing are covered under your plan. Standard Medicare is never a problem, but Medicare Advantage and other PPO plans may have limited networks. If your plan is an HMO or ACA Community plan, I will most likely be out of network, but it is worthwhile to check if Craig A. Backs MD 2131 W. White Oaks Dr. Springfield, IL 62704 is in your network. If your plan does not cover my services or orders, the cost for the initial consultation is $300. Subsequent consultations every 3-6 months are $240-$300, depending on the complexity of the process. If your insurance won’t cover tests I order, I offer substantial discounts by having them billed to The CureCenter and in turn billing you. The cost ranges from $150-$300 every 3-6 months depending on the tests you need. If your response to treatment is favorable, the frequency of followup is 6-12 months. If treatment is changing or results are unfavorable, we generally followup every 3-4 months.

  • Please listen and limit interruptions. Talking over the other person is a special problem with Zoom’s slight delay. Let the other person finish, pause, then talk. Make notes listing your questions. There will be plenty of time for questions. Generally the common questions will be covered by Dr. Backs proactively during the call.

  • Time management is important in order to cover everything during the time allotted. Provide information and ask/answer questions, but avoid lengthy stories. Detailed medical history will be captured using our consultation tools, including CureCoach.App. Please try it. Most of our patients like it.

  • Complete registration and as many of the questions on CureCoach.App as you can. The more information you provide, the better and more effiiently we can serve you. Your private health information is secured by CureCoach.App more effectively than email, text or even voice communication. We designed CureCoach.App for easy use to limit confusion and barriers to timely and accurate communication.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY CALL?

If you proceed with your CurePlan, you will be scheduled for lab testing and a review consultation either in person or via Zoom. If your visit is scheduled virtually, please review the telehealth guidelines on our website to help you prepare. Insurance and Medicare generally cover labs and consultation/coaching. We offer an affordable cash pay option for those lacking insurance coverage or preferring to avoid the hassle.

You should also register for CureCoach.App . This will provide you access to test results, lab/imaging reports, and the CurePlan you develop with Dr. Backs.

If you’re not able or willing to use our more secure and private CureCoach.App, Dr. Backs will reluctantly use other methods of providing you with this information. Less secure and private email and text communication can be used at your request, but you take responsibility for the privacy and security of your private health information in return for this preference. The CureCenter will not be responsible for privacy breaches when we can’t use the CureCoach platform based on your preference.
