Preparing for Your Video Discovery Call

You took the first step. You scheduled your video Discovery Call. What should you expect? Here are answers to some commonly asked questions:

WHAT IS THE COST OF A VIDEO DISCOVERY CALL?

There is no cost or obligation to proceed after your Video Discovery Call. The purpose is to address common general questions regarding the CurePlan process:

  • Insurance coverage

  • Testing locations and options

  • Working with your other providers

  • CureCoach.App registration

Recommending details about your care is not the purpose of your video Discovery Call. That happens during a Consultation if you decide to proceed. We ask you to complete registration and consent forms to enable us to answer questions about these issues more easily and efficiently.

HOW LONG DOES A VIDEO DISCOVERY CALL TAKE?

A Video DiscoveryCall typically lasts about 30 minutes. Use this link to enter the Zoom waiting room. If time allows and you want to proceed, Dr. Backs may start the consultation process or schedule time for a later date. Medical consultations are billed to your insurance unless you prefer otherwise.

WHAT DO I NEED FOR MY VIDEO DISCOVERY CALL OR CONSULTATION?

  • We recommend you use your computer instead of a tablet or smartphone due to the amount of information shared on screen. Log in to Zoom at least 5 minutes early using this link: zoomwiththecurecenter.life. Unmute your microphone and start your video. Dr. Backs will admit you at the time of your appointment. If you have never used Zoom, this tutorial will help you have a better experience.

  • During the meeting, you may be asked to share your screen to help you register, connect or navigate on CureCoach.App. Click here to learn more about screen sharing.

  • Arrange your environment as you would a professional in-office visit. Ensure you are in a private quiet space with no interruptions. You may not be aware of background noise but the microphone transmits clinking dishes, pets, playing children, and other distractions inaudible to you. Outdoor locations with associated wind or other noise, driving, or being otherwise preoccupied are unacceptable and will lead to your appointment being rescheduled.

  • In case we transition into a consultation, have your medication list and supplement bottles handy (including OTC medications). Be prepared to provide blood pressure readings from other encounters or home readings, as well as height and weight measurements.

  • Please listen and limit interruptions. Talking over the other person is a special problem with Zoom’s slight delay. Let the other person finish, pause, then talk. Make notes. There will be plenty of time for questions. Generally the common questions will be covered by Dr. Backs during the call.

  • Time management is important in order to cover everything during the time allotted. Provide information and ask/answer questions, but lengthy stories are not necessary. Detailed medical history will be captured using our consultation tools, including CureCoach.App.

  • Complete registration and as many of the questions as time permits on CureCoach.App. The more information you provide, the better we can serve you. Your private health information is secured by CureCoach.App far more effectively than email, text or even voice communication. We designed CureCoach.App for easy use and to focus on cardiometabolic disease.

HOW DO I BEGIN MY VIDEO DISCOVERY CALL OR CONSULTATION?

Tap the button below to enter the virtual patient waiting room via Zoom. Dr. Backs will begin the call at the time of your appointment. Be sure to access the call on a device with audio (headphones or earbuds are helpful) and video capabilities. Have your phone handy in case your connection is interrupted. You may need to download the Zoom app on your internet-connected device prior to your call.

If you do not enter the waiting room by 5 minutes after your scheduled appointment time, you will receive a call at the phone number you provided to remind or assist you. If you do not answer or appear by 10 minutes after your scheduled appointment time, you will be considered a no show and subject to our cancellation policy and $75 charge.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY ZOOM CONNECTION IS INTERRUPTED?

Dr. Backs will call you at the number you provided during the scheduling process. Be sure to have that phone handy in the case of interruptions. In most case, interruptions are restored within seconds or minutes.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY CALL?

If you decide to proceed with your CurePlan, you will be scheduled for testing and a review consultation either in person or via Zoom. If your visit is scheduled virtually, please review the telehealth guidelines on our website to help you prepare.

You will also be asked to register for CureCoach.App if you haven’t already. This will provide you access to test results, lab/imaging reports, and the CurePlan you develop with Dr. Backs.

If you’re not able or willing to use our more secure and private CureCoach.App, Dr. Backs will reluctantly provide other methods of providing you with this information. Less secure and private email and text communication can be used at your request, but you take responsibility for the privacy and security of your private health information in return for this preference. The CureCenter will not be responsible for privacy breaches when we don’t use the CureCoach platform.
